In Saudi Arabia, SASO certification is the process of obtaining the mark of approval for importation by the government-designated standardisation body in the country. The standardisation body is defined as Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization or simply referred to as the SASO.
Among others, the goods being imported by service providers and importers commonly undergo a programme for assessment of conformity by a licensed certification body. This is to check for adherence to various criteria and technical regulatory guidelines determined by or issued by the SASO. Commonly, the Certification of Conformity or CoC is considered as a valid permit for goods to enter the Saudi Arabian marketplace. This can only be issued upon fulfilment of all standards and requirements as specified in the international guides required for obtaining the SASO certification.
